MICHAEL HOLTER
Michael Holter is an American Watercolorist who has rapidly become known for his dynamic watercolor portraits and landscapes and for his engaging workshops. After a successful career in art education, advertising design, and creative leadership, Michael began focusing more seriously on his painting in 2011.
Michael is a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York and has quickly become a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the American Impressionist Society,
The Watercolor Honor Society, The Southwestern Watercolor Society, The Society of Watercolor Artists, the Missouri Watercolor Society, The Outdoor Painters Society, and several others.
His work has received numerous awards, been published in the NorthLight Books issues of Splash 16 through 21 and has been selected three times to the Fabriano (Italy) Watermedia Exhibition and also the World Watercolor Competition in Taiwan.

AWARDS :
Previous prizes annually have averaged $8,000 in cash, materials, and purchase awards. Purchase awards will be 60% of the artist’s asking price.
SIGNATURE MEMBERSHIP :
Artist Signature Membership is given to a KWS member who has been accepted into three Aqueous exhibitions while maintaining continuous membership without lapse.
All KWS Signature members are eligible for the KWS Signature Artist Award.

WORKSHOP
3-Day Watercolor Workshop

This workshop will focus on the use of watercolor to paint exciting impressionistic paintings. You will paint from photographs and explore the use of light and shadow to create interesting compositions and achieve dynamic results. We will discuss and work on turning any photo into an interesting and exciting painting. We will examine the fundamentals of watercolor painting to assure that all students are familiar with the techniques. Daily discussions and application of the principles and elements of design will be woven into your painting experience.
Each day you will engage in exercises that will solidify the content that you are working on and spend time viewing other artists’ work. We will discuss the methods and the impact that these artists achieve using their techniques.
Michael will demonstrate his approach to creating landscapes and will show you several high-speed video demonstrations. You will have ample time to successfully complete your own paintings.
Michael welcomes novice and advanced students and tailors the experience to individual needs.
